Event Management using RFID Tags

RFID Technology has become an industry-standard for large festivals and conferences. RFID is a wireless technology that allows shorter lines, richer information, and more committed participants and sponsors in music festivals to company meetings to retail events.

What does RFID mean for events?

There are quite a few ways event creators can use RFID to streamline the event experience and allow for better data capture. The main applications of RFID for events are:

1. Flexible access control:

Grant quick, controlled entry to particular zones (such as VIP areas or conference sessions) that only a subset of your overall attendee base should be permitted in.

2. Entry to the event:

Without paper tickets and call lines, admission is quick and seamless — more than 20 people per scanner per minute. RFID input is also quicker and simpler than other kinds of electronic scanners. The staff does not need the training to use it, because RFID equipment lights up green for go and red for stop — simple for processing safety.

3. Cashless payments:

RFID enables participants to pay with their wristbands for food, beverages, and goods instead of carrying money or credit cards. It’s streamlined and secure, making checkout quicker for you. And study demonstrates that individuals spend up to 20 percent more on activities when using RFID instead of money.

4. Less fraud:

RFID chips have an additional layer of safety that makes them almost impossible to duplicate, meaning no more counterfeit tickets. Each ticket is associated with an individual ID, allowing you to readily deactivate a lost wristband and issue a fresh one.

5. Better data collection:

RFID technology provides real-time insight into how attendees move through events. This can assist you to make choices at the moment. RFID also allows a better collection of attendant information at an individual level. If they register their wristbands with an email address or link them to social profiles, you will obtain rich information that you can use in future marketing.

6. Social engagement:

RFID can also be used to better engage participants in creative ways. With RFID-enabled photo booths, eventgoers can tap their wristbands to email the photo themselves. And that’s just one perspective creative implementation of RFID for attendant involvement.
